Genre: 2D Platformer / Puzzle-Platformer (Godot 4)

Overview Level Trickster is a 100-level platformer built around a simple promise: don't trust anything you see. Floors vanish the moment you step on them, doors that look like the exit kill you instead, spikes ambush you from "safe" ground, and saws sweep through paths that looked clear a second ago. Death is instant, respawn is instant, and every failure teaches you the trick for next time.

Core Idea #1 — The Trickster Platformer Every trap in the game is designed around deception rather than difficulty alone. Collapsing floors, hidden ambush spikes, decoy exits, falling crushers, and illusion floors (which look solid but have no collision at all) turn simple platforming into a game of pattern-reading and memory. The game keeps a running death counter and throws sarcastic taunts at the player every time they fall for a trick — because they will, repeatedly.

Core Idea #2 — Dual Identity: Angel & Devil Midway through the game, a second layer is introduced: the player character can swap between two identities — a mischievous Devil and a Light-wielding Angel — at the press of a button. Each identity has its own elemental attack (a dark orb vs. a light orb) and its own vulnerabilities: blue barriers only shatter under the Angel's light, dark barriers only shatter under the Devil's shadow, hallowed ground is lethal to the Devil but harmless to the Angel, and cursed ground works the other way around. Progress now depends not just on timing, but on choosing the right self for the right obstacle — a second, entirely different puzzle layer fused into the same platforming core.

Structure

  • 21 hand-crafted levels that introduce each mechanic one at a time, including a dedicated tutorial for the Angel/Devil system.
  • 79 procedurally generated levels (22–100) built from the same trap vocabulary, each with a fixed seed so every playthrough of "Level 47" is identical, with difficulty scaling smoothly toward level 100.
  • A full main menu with instant level-select access to any of the 100 stages.

Controls Move (A/D or Arrows) · Jump (Space/W/Up) · Swap Identity (Q) · Attack (F) · Menu (ESC)

Why it fits "Diversity of Ideas" The game deliberately fuses two distinct design philosophies into one experience: a reflex-and-memory trap platformer, and an elemental duality puzzle layered on top of it — proving that a single, small game can hold multiple, genuinely different ideas without feeling disjointed
